चांद्रसेनीय कायस्थ प्रभू  or CKP as they are commonly known as, is a subcaste in Maharashtra. They're beleived to have migrated to Maharashtra from the Kashmir Valley in or around 1305 AD, culinary heritage pertaining to Kashmir can still be found in the form of use of typical ingredients native to that region like Khus Khus or poppy seeds in the daily cusine. Having settled along the Konkan coast Fish is an integral part of CKP Cuisine. CKPs are born foodies & their love for good food & drink is widely known. CKP food is quiet disticnt from other Maharashtrian food preparations, a few typical CKP food ingrdients are कडवे वाल (bitter field beans), सोडे (dried Prawns) सुकट (dried Shrimp) etc. We personally recommend that you try our CKP specialities like भरला सरंगा (stuffed pomfret), सोड्याचे कालवण, सोड्याची खिचडी, सोडे भरलेली वांगी, सुकटीची चटणी, मुगाचे बिर्ढे, मसुराची आमटी, कडव्या वालाचे बिर्ढे, वालाची खिचडी, निनांव (a very special CKP sweet dish).
